"Robert, here's a recent oldies CD that you might want to know about (if
you don't already): 'Phil's Spectre: A Wall of Soundalikes' (Ace). It's
an odd title, but a wonderful collection: singles from 1963-67 that
weren't produced by Phil Spector, but sound like they were - showing the
influence he had on pop/rock of the time. It includes some hits, like
'Soul and Inspiration' by the Righteous Brothers and 'All Strung Out' by
Nino Tempo & April Stevens; and some should-have-been-hits, like P.J.
Proby's 'I Can't Make It Alone' and Jackie DeShannon's original 'When
You Walk In the Room.'" -- A.J.
