By Robert Fontenot, About.com Guide to Oldies Music since 2002

From the oldies.about.com mailbag:

Monday December 22, 2003
"Robert, here's a recent oldies CD that you might want to know about (if you don't already): 'Phil's Spectre: A Wall of Soundalikes' (Ace). It's an odd title, but a wonderful collection: singles from 1963-67 that weren't produced by Phil Spector, but sound like they were - showing the influence he had on pop/rock of the time. It includes some hits, like 'Soul and Inspiration' by the Righteous Brothers and 'All Strung Out' by Nino Tempo & April Stevens; and some should-have-been-hits, like P.J. Proby's 'I Can't Make It Alone' and Jackie DeShannon's original 'When You Walk In the Room.'" -- A.J.

Thanks so much for the tip, A.J.! I did some searching and found exactly what you were talking about right here!
