"When I was 16, in 1968, John [Lennon] was my idol. His music was so experimental, he stood for what he believed in. He was more of an individual than the other members of the group. Or so it seemed to me, anyway. But he was a strong personality. A real individualist.

I don't know what happened to that John Lennon. The guy who called himself John after the group split seemed defensive, whiny. He did albums using primal scream therapy. The John Lennon I knew would've called that for what it was - BS! Like he did the maharishi.

He called his ugly and unpleasant girlfriend 'mother'. I kept waiting for the other half of the word. He just seemed to put his personal life in her control and his musical life in Spector's. This from the man who battled Paul Mc Cartney over control in the Beatles. Who resented the control people had over his career and politicians had on our lives. He seemed to absolve himself of any at all.

I wonder what happened?!" -- Jack The Beatlegeezer
