From Our Forum: Singing actors

Thursday February 10, 2005
"I see Nashville Kat mentioned Patty Duke. I have her greatest hits CD. She was pretty bad too. Manually double tracked her voice and couldn't sing on key with herself. Still, the songs were good. 'Don't Just Stand There' sounded like a follow-up to Lesley Gore's 'You Don't Own Me.'

Kat also mentioned Johnny Crawford. A real exception to the singing actor genre, I thought he did pretty good. James Darren did even better.

Shelly Fabres, on the other hand, was a hopeless case. I read somewhere that 'Johnny Angel' contained a considerable amount of edits. Seems she couldn't hardly get through a single line and stay on key. The final result was good, though. Got my pre-pubescent hormones jumpin'!

Remember Sal Mineo's one hit back in the 50's?" -- Jack the Beatlegeezer
