The big hits of 1971 were (almost) all about expanding the parameters of what America traditionally thought... it became easy to believe that utopia was possible, that justice could come from odd places, or that the revolution could stand a little anti-revolution of its own. In the midst of that, however, love and lust kept poking their guilty little heads in, reducing the most visionary of musicians to lonely and/or personally peaceful individuals.
