Third time's a charm for the Dave Clark Five?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2008 nominees for induction -- and for the third time, the Dave Clark Five are up for inclusion. The Susan Lucci of potential Rock Hall inductees, they just can't catch a break... you may recall last year's scandal where Fox News accused Hall board chair and Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner of deliberately manipulating the process so that Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the Hall's first hip-hop inductee, would enter before the DC5.

The good news for oldies fans is that the Ventures, instrumental rock gods of "Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O" fame, have been nominated for the first time ever. Here's the full list of potential 2008 Hall of Fame inductees:

• Beastie Boys
• Chic
• Leonard Cohen
• Dave Clark Five
• Madonna
• John Mellencamp
• Donna Summer
• The Ventures
