Dave Clark Five, Ventures to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
After three nominations and a possible voting-rules scandal uncovered by FOX News last year, The Dave Clark Five will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2008, during its 22nd annual ceremony in New York City. The British Invasion group, second in line behind the Beatles in chronological order of invasion and famous for hits like "Glad All Over" and "Bits and Pieces," have long been favored to enter the hall, but have been denied twice times in favor of other artists. In 2007, Fox News' Roger Friedman reported that the voting rules were changed by HOF chairman Jann Wenner in order to allow the first hip-hop group, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, to enter.
Also finally getting their place in the sun are the godfathers of instrumental rock, The Ventures, who just scored their first nomination this year. Madonna, John Mellencamp, and Leonard Cohen round out the list of main '08 inductees, with blues harp master Little Walter (Muddy Waters) being honored in the Sidemen category and the masterminds of Philadelphia International's "Philly Soul," the production team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff (Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, The O'Jays), to receive the first Ahmet Ertegun Award (the Non-Performer category, renamed in honor of the recently deceased Atlantic Records founder). Here's the complete list of past HOF inductees as of 2007.

Why is not Chicago in the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame. Sure they have mellowed over the years, but in their heydey of late 60’s early 70’s, they were as good as anyone. In addition, the
Hall is always saying they are looking for
innovators, they brought a brass sound to rock
that was covered by many a house band
Finally, the originators of surfin’music, The Ventures, are being honored. What a fantastic sound they had with their twangy guitars and bent notes. Great hits included Walk Don’t Run, Perfidia, Apache and the remake od Hawaii Five-O. Welcome guys. This is LONG overdue.
