Buck Owens and Merle Haggard were the guiding forces behind the new country that emerged from Bakersfield, CA, in the Sixties, as a reaction to the slicked-up "Nashville Sound," an influence has spread far and wide -- not only is it impossible to imagine Dwight Yoakam without them, it's also impossible to imagine Creedence Clearwater Revival.
