Profile: The Flamingos

Wednesday October 29, 2008
They're best known for their impossibly lush, haunting version of "I Only Have Eyes For You," but by the time they scored that hit, The Flamingos had already carved out an impressive career as one of doo-wop's most influential, unusual, and iconoclastic groups. This undoubtedly is one of my favorite groups of the doo-wop era. The Platters, Flamingos, and Channels brought a special flair and class to R&B music. It’s no doubt that they were an influence to later groups like the Temptations. Good to see that least one of the original Flamingos is still out there.

Great profile. It’s nice to remember the Flamingos and how absolutely talented and beautiful their music was.
