The nominees for the 2012 Grammy Awards were announced this week, and several oldies artists were among those honored: Tony Bennett received two nominations for his Duets II album (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo Performance for his duet with Amy Winehouse) while Barbra Streisand's collection of Alan and Marilyn Bergman songs, What Matters Most, is also up for Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Recent favorite Booker T. of MGs fame is again in the running for Best Pop Instrumental Album (for The Road From Memphis), and Jeff Beck is once again up for Best Rock Album (for Rock 'N' Roll Party Honoring Les Paul). R&B legend Betty Wright continues her career resurgence with a nom for Best Traditional R&B Performance, while Ry Cooder (Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down), Emmylou Harris (Hard Bargain), and Levon Helm (Ramble at the Ryman) are all nominated for Best Americana Album. The 54th Grammy Awards will be broadcast February 12, 2012 on CBS.
