The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2013 nominees for induction, and several oldies artists have finally made the cut. The late disco queen Donna Summer is finally in after five nominations, and sardonic songwriter turned Pixar composer Randy Newman has made it in two tries, while blues legend Albert King is in on his first. However, Chic, Deep Purple, The Meters, Heart, NWA, Paul Butterfield, Procol Harum, Joan Jett, and Kraftwerk were all edged out in favor of Public Enemy, Rush, and Heart.
The induction ceremony will be held April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Which of these artists should make it into the hall, and which shouldn't even be on this list? Let me know what you think here, or leave a comment below!

I think only three deserve to be inducted: Summer, Newman and King. My two cents.
How can you NOT include Deep Purple?
Next year, Joanie!
The “R&R Hall of Shame” does it again. Donna Summer is NOT rock, Public Enemy is NOT rock. Deep Purple, a very important band in the hard rock genre is rock. The hall is a joke!

Technically you are right, if you only include rockers of the 1950;s and early 1960′s. That was considered by you purests as true rock ‘n roll; however, time marched on and new sounds/genre’s evolved under the umbrella of “rock ‘n roll”. To me CCR was rock ‘n roll at its finest, and that took place almost 20 years later. So to me and others, the term “rock ‘n roll” is only an umbrella under which many types of music are housed.
