She began her career singing country music in Tulsa, but Patti Page, who left us recently at 85, soon became the epitome of pop sophistication at a time when the Greatest Generation desperately needed normalcy. For that reason, the golden voice behind "Tennessee Waltz," "Old Cape Cod," and "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" was also the antithesis of rock n' roll... but even rockers came to recognize her greatness, eventually.
