The Beatles Songs: Revolution 9

By January 30, 2013

Follow me on:

To quite a number of people, even ardent Beatles fans, "Revolution 9" isn't music at all. But then, it wasn't meant to be: the most controversial track the group ever made was a performance nonetheless, crafted by John (with some help from George and Yoko) out of the ashes of a #1 smash, then strung together as a vision of apocalypse. It frightens some people, infuriates others, and still fascinates many -- and actual avant-garde musicians take it quite seriously as a musicless masterpiece. Read all about the bizarre creation of "Revolution" 9 in my latest Beatles fact sheet.
