In honor of the extra-long 2013 Carnival season -- which occurred around a Super Bowl for the first time ever, and which climaxes next Tuesday -- I'm once again trotting out my list of the best Mardi Gras oldies, covering the '50s, '60s, and '70s in search of what I consider the classic Fat Tuesday hits of New Orleans. I have no idea whether or not THIS has anything to do with New Orleans, but it has always sounded like it did to me. Perhaps it’s the odd combination of a Geordie attempting to sing with a slight Jamaican lilt in his voice. I can easily imagine it accompanying the still photograph you used to illustrate this list.
