Interview: Sid Bernstein

By August 26, 2013

Follow me on:

Lots of people take claim for being the "Fifth Beatle," or have had that title assigned to them, at any rate. But the very first person to realize the Beatles needed to cross the ocean was storied rock impresario Sid Bernstein, who recently passed away at the ripe old age of 95. Some years ago, I interviewed Sid about the amazing story behind that story, and in tribute, here it is again... Read how the Beatles made it to Carnegie Hall and Shea Stadium, where no rock bands had ever gone!

Rob, did you do that interview with Sid Bernstein? Quite an interview and someone who probably didn’t get the full recognition he deserved from the press or the Beatles themselves.

Sure did! He was quite the polite and engaging gentleman. He invited me to pizza with him in New York, but sadly I never made it up there.
