What's That Soundtrack?
A guide to those old songs you keep hearing in today's most popular films

Now more than ever, Hollywood films (and some of their British counterparts) are employing short bursts of familiar songs in order to create a mood or a moment instantly in a scene. Finding them all can be difficult, however, hence the following list, designed as a resource for those of you who want to identify and/or purchase a song you didn't recognize in one of these movies. If you hear what sounds like an oldies song in a movie soundtrack and don't see it listed here, e-mail me and I'll add it to the list. This will be an ongoing resource here at oldies.about.com, always on the front page for your convenience.

IMPORTANT NOTES: All films listed alphabetically. If a song title has a link, you can click it and be taken to a page featuring a short sample of the song in question. You can check prices and buy the song at MySimon by clicking on the "buy" links. In the context of this site, "oldies" generally refers to popular hits between 1955-1975. "Original version" refers to whether or not the song was re-recorded specifically for the film.
