Internet radio began as a great way for people to get the music they needed over the web, but it was a bit ahead of its time for a lot of people - people who had to wait for affordable technology to catch up. That day is here.
Unfortunately, the advent of such massive streaming webcasts had a number of musician's unions and record labels finally agreeing on something. That something being, the need to kill internet radio. Now. Hence, the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), which you can read about in the "Elsewhere On The Web" section in the right corner of this page. The webcasters have since counterattacked with the IRFA (Internet Radio Fairness Act), but the drama is still being played out.
However, the average oldies fan just wants to know what he can still listen to, and that's why your Oldies Guide (me) has complied this list of resources and webpages for internet-only broadcasts and commercial radio stations who, through neglect, acquiesence, or defiance, are still streaming their broadcasts over the net. The good news: there's still an amazing amount of great oldies music - hits, rarities, you name it - that you can hear without spending a dime, right in the comfort of your "computer chair." As to how long that'll last, no one knows for sure.
Here's a collection of links to the best oldies music stations on the web. This will be an ongoing and permanent resource on this site; if you have or know of a site like this that isn't listed here, e-mail me!
