Question: Was "Peggy Sue" about a real person?
Answer: Yes and no... the song as Buddy originally wrote it was "Cindy Lou," and wasn't about anyone in particular. But Crickets drummer Jerry Allison suggested changing the name to that of his girlfriend, Peggy Sue Gerron, with whom he was deeply in love. The two were married the next year; Buddy's father suggested writing a sequel, and Buddy came up with "Peggy Sue Got Married."
