From the press release:

Motown legend Smokey Robinson takes his own trip through the Great American Songbook on his new album, "Timeless Love."

The album features a dozen pop standards made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and others, as well as the more contemporary "Time After Time." It's the first time Robinson has devoted an album entirely to covers, and he says he did it for the love of the material.

"This music is music I grew up on, the first music I remember hearing in my life," he said. "I love this music and I love the writers. These songs were written at the time when the song was king."

As a songwriter Robinson is responsible for some pop standards of his own, including "My Girl," "You Really Got a Hold On Me," "Ooo Baby Baby" and "The Tears of a Clown." He's working on an album of new material as well and has also launched a popular frozen soul food line.
