Here's a handy database of dates and events in Elvis Presley's life during 1959. You can also find out what else Elvis was up to in 1959 and in all the years of his life.

January 16: Elvis gives blood at a Red Cross facility in Friedberg, Germany.
February 3: The singer and his family/entourage move into a new three-story, five-bedroom house located at 14 Goethestrasse, Bad Nauheim. Rent is the equivalent of 800 American dollars per month. A sign out front, translated, reads: "Autographs from 7:30-8:00 pm."
March 18: Taking a tight curve while driving a Jeep, Elvis is thrown to the side of the road and injures his knee. The injury is kept from the press.
March 27: Elvis throws an "Over The Hump" party to celebrate the end of his first year of service.
May 18: Time magazine erroneously reports that ABC has signed Elvis to a million-dollar contract for three TV specials once released from the Army.
June 1: Presley is promoted to Specialist 4th Class (E4). His monthly salary is raised to $122.30.
June 3: Stricken with tonsillitis, Elvis enters the base hospital and remains there for six days, during which a fruitless search is undertaken for a doctor who will operate on the famous throat. The inflammation is instead allowed to run its course.
June 13: Elvis receives a 15-day furlough and uses it to travel to Paris, ostensibly to meet film sexpot Brigitte Bardot. While there, he and his entourage take up a suite at the Prince De Galles Hotel (on the Champs Elysees) and visit the Moulin Rouge and also the Lido club, home of the famous dancers the Bluebell Girls. Elvis and company take some of the girls back to the hotel tonight, a practice they would continue throughout his leave.
June 20: The Lido club management calls Elvis' hotel and demands that his entire chorus line be returned in time for tonight's show.
June 22: Vernon Presley, Elvis' father, returns to Memphis with Davada "Dee" Stanley, his new flame (who is still married to an Army Sergeant stationed in Friedberg).
June 28: Fearful of flying, Elvis spends $800 American on a limo to drive he and his companions back to the base in Germany.
July 15: ABC announces the Welcome Home Elvis television special to air in the spring of 1960, for which the singer will receive $125,000.
July 22: In her nationally syndicated Voice Of Broadway column, journalist Dorothy Kilgallen reports that Elvis will be released from the service at Christmas instead of March 1960, ostensibly for "good behavior." This causes a small scandal until the Army points out that all soldiers are expected to have good behavior, and that Presley would not be released early for any reason.
August 15: Army captain Paul Beaulieu is reassigned to Wiesbaden, Germany, along with his three children and his stepdaughter from a previous marriage, 14-year-old Priscilla Ann.
September 13: An airman and friend, Currie Grant, brings Priscilla Ann Beaulieu to a party at Elvis' apartment after meeting her in the nearby Eagles Club, a popular hangout for officers and their families. Wearing a sailor dress for the occasion, Priscilla says "It's a pleasure to meet you" and remarked that it was a shame the Army had taken his sideburns. He plays her a few songs on guitar. Elvis and "Cilla" are immediately smitten with each other, with the singer describing her to friends as smart, saying that she treats him like an ordinary guy, and dubbing her "the woman I've been looking for my whole life."
October 21: Elvis' grandfather, Jessie, writes to Vernon that Joan Crawford has visited him at the Coca-Cola factory in Memphis where he works, and made a point of complimenting his grandson to him.
October 24: Presley's tonsillitis returns, forcing another hospital stay and three days' sick leave at home.
December 6: Elvis and Priscilla are introduced to the martial art of karate through Jurgen Seydel. They begin bi-weekly lessons.
December 25: The Presley entourage celebrates Christmas 1959 at his apartment. Priscilla presents him with a set of bongos as a present.
