Jazz Music and Musicians

Classic postwar jazz, including bop and postbop, from all the legendary masters of the genre.
Profile: Les Paul
Les Paul remains the most famous name in guitars, but before his many innovations in the development of the electric guitar, he was already regarded as one of the world's leading jazz guitarists, also creating pop hits like "How High The Moon" with wife Mary Ford. This Les Paul profile is the latest in a series on music's most popular artists of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, written and compiled by your oldies Guide here at About.com.
Art Blakey: Jazz Musician
A nice fan site devoted to hard bop's master craftsman. Contains a discography, bio, photos, and great sound clips of Blakey classics!

This Finnish fan site has a great deal of information about the visionary hard bop bassist, his life, and his works, including a filmography and some words from the cat himself.

John Coltrane
One of the finest official sites around, and definitely the most thorough one to deal with "Trane," the greatest sax man of all time. Includes an online store!
Saturn Web
This official(?) site for Sun Ra, otherworldly visitor and free-jazz legend, is quite academic, with exhaustive compilations of articles, Arkestra band members, concerts, books about Sun, and more.
The Cannonball Adderley Rendez-vous
The fonts are sometimes strange, and the language a bit off, but this is overall an excellent fan site for one of jazz's most scholarly and exciting hard-bop saxophonists.
The Les Paul Pages
This page is essentially a series of discographies for the legendary pop/jazz guitar master.
The Thelonious Monk Website
The greatest pianist in jezz history has a wonderful fan site here with loads of magazine articles, dissertations, a FAQ, and an extensive discography with pictures. First-rate.
