I just listened to the whole thing on YouTube. It’s amazing how a guy establishes a style in 1968, and 44 years later, has pretty much stayed true to it. As far as I’m concerned, THIS was the song that pretty much ushered in the “Jeff Lynne sound” as we’ve known it all these years.
