Grammy-award winning producer Phil Ramone, best known for producing hit '70s albums by Paul Simon and Billy Joel, has been hospitalized in New York. The producer, who began as an engineer with the likes of Tom Dowd and Quincy Jones in the 1960s, suffered an aortic aneurysm on Thursday and is listed in critical condition. Ramone, who currently lives in Connecticut, underwent emergency surgery on Friday and apparently came through it with flying colors; an associate was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying that Phil "is resting comfortably and expected to be released in the next few days." More details as they become available.
